meet our coach
Sarah Cherington // A.S., B.S., M.S., Level I RRCA Certified Run Coach
Sarah started running (very slowly!) after age 30 and quickly fell in love with the sport and the science behind training. She has since completed 12 marathons (PR 3:09), 9 Half Marathons (PR 1:27), a 50K, and a 50 miler. She is currently training for the Boston Marathon and will run the 2022 Chevron Houston Marathon as a Local Elite Masters athlete. She is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and Exercise Physiologist and also holds an M.S. in Psychology. Sarah passionately believes in coaching runners of all abilities and experience to meet goals safely and wisely by sharing her knowledge of physiology and psychology, as well as her experience in the sport. Sarah is also committed to helping the wider community through running and serves as the Community Service Chair for her running club, the Houston Harriers. Coaching for A 2nd Cup’s Run for a Reason team allows Sarah to uniquely combine the things that she loves - running, coaching, social justice, and giving back to the community.
meet our team captain
Rasmus Frandsen // 2:47 Marathon, Co-Founder of Njörd Running
Rasmus has always had a drive to challenge himself through physical activity, and see how far he could push his body. This led to him training and completing the Ironman competition in Zurich at age 23. One of the driving factors behind his desire to keep pursuing new goals has been being part of a community and getting to know other athletes’ motivations and journeys. Growing up in Denmark, he spent much of his life exploring other cultures and meeting people from many different walks of life. From a young age he maintained a perspective of exploration and learning, as well as reflection on his own world view and experiences. Saddened by the reality that so many lives and cultures are subject to constant injustice and poverty, he has chosen to pour his passion into running to help underserved communities, and help those suffering from injustice and inequality achieve equitable support from the strong running community here in Houston. He believes through charitable partnership we can make a difference together.
